Jönköpings Södra IF's Stadsparksvallen was bathed in sunshine on Saturday and it was clear that J-Södras players were enjoying themselves a bit extra on the training now that the long winter seems to have let go of its grip. And Colin Farnerud is ready to play football too? – Yes, finally. I've been with the team for two to three weeks after a tough, jobbing injury in February. I've worked hard, but now it's nice to be back. Now I'm fit, I feel 100%. So it's great to be back, finally, says the 22-year-old midfielder. What was the injury you had? – I got a knee injury in a near-fight. I got a mini-fracture inside the knee and a stretched ligament. So it was six weeks to heal the bone and then rehab it, so it takes time. But it's gone according to plan, or a week longer, but I've had incredible help when I was injured so now I'm fit for fight. Better to get the injury during the preseason so you don't miss too many matches, but at the same time you want to have that buildup, or how do you see it? – You want to be injured as little as possible, but if you have to choose, you want to miss as few league matches as possible. So I'm coming back in a good position anyway, and we're starting to win now too, so you just feel like you want to contribute to the team. But the timing is never perfect for an injury. Colin Farnerud has certainly had a bit of a rough time with injuries since he signed with J-Södra last year. – Yes, I was just back from an injury when I came here and the thought was that I would be able to be with the team at the start of the season. But then I got a concussion, came back from it and pulled my back. Then I played in the fall and now in February I got injured again, he says. How has it been to be injured so much? – More mentally tough than physically, really. But we have an incredible team, so you think less about the injury and more about spending time up at Odensberg with the guys. So it's helped. The leaders in the previous coaching staff have helped, the new ones too. So I haven't felt alone or anything. It's gone well, actually. You've basically come into a good situation here in J-Södra despite the injuries? – Yes, basically, you can just come into a good situation here. The conditions are just great. The fans, the pitch, the training facilities, everything is just great. It's just a top club, so there's no better conditions in the first division. And it's basically from now on that Colin Farnerud will show the Jönköpings public what he can do on the football pitch. – Yes, of course. I'm a diesel, it takes time to start but it will be good later (laughs). No, but I hope I've had all the injuries I'm going to have now. Most recently against Hässleholm, Farnerud came on in the 74th minute and made his season debut when J-Södra won 2-0. It was J-Södra's fourth match in a row without a loss after four opening matches without a win. – We knew it would be good and we know it will be even better. So there hasn't been any doubt about it, says Farnerud. – Maybe maybe we were a bit surprised that it went as it did in the beginning, but there was no panic. It was more a will to come back and we knew it was just a matter of time, really. So it felt. Now Ängelholm is waiting at home on Stadsparksvallen on Sunday. The prognosis talks about sunshine and a temperature a bit over 20 degrees and Colin Farnerud hopes for good public support. – I think people underestimate how much the public helps us. We feel it all over the world, says Farnerud.
